What is refractory castable

Refractory castables are a mixture of refractory aggregates, powders, and binders. After adding water or other liquids, they are suitable for construction using pouring and vibration methods.

They can also be pre made into prefabricated parts with specified shapes and sizes for constructing industrial furnace linings. In order to improve the physical and chemical properties and construction performance of Refractory castables, appropriate additives are often added, such as plasticizer, dispersant, accelerator, retarder, expansion agent, gel breaking gel agent, etc.

In addition, for refractory castables used in areas subjected to high mechanical forces or strong thermal impacts, adding an appropriate amount of stainless steel fibers can increase the toughness of the material. Adding inorganic fibers to insulation refractory castables can enhance toughness and improve their insulation performance. Due to its basic material composition (such as aggregates and powders, admixtures, binders, and additives), setting and hardening process, construction methods, etc., which are similar to concrete in civil engineering, refractory castables were also known as refractory concrete.

The production process of refractory castables is simple, labor-saving, and energy-saving, and materials with performance can be prepared or selected on site according to needs. Therefore, refractory castables are a type of amorphous refractory material that is widely used and applicable in furnace construction projects.
